There are a number of beaches in Hampshire, the Isle Of Wight, Sussex and Kent said to be used by naturists, but we don't have enough first-hand information to create a separate page for each of them. If you have information about any of these beaches, please use the comment form to send it to NUFF. Hampshire

Please support the campaign to keep a small stretch of beach here open for naturists. Lobby the council and better still use it. Lovely beach and does not affect the huge amount of beach available for others. Not too difficult to access and not overlooked except by dog walkers and others who walk along the beach this far.

I agree with Jo. Botany Bay is one of the best beaches in Kent. For those who don't know it, it's located at Kingsgate on the north-eastern tip of Kent. A long sandy beach with low cliffs and excellent clean waters. The area long used by naturists is to the north of the main beach; involves a short walk and tends to be fairly quiet.
Thanet Council attempted to discourage naturists by erecting "prohibition notices" in 2007. This was challenged and the general view is that the Council probably acted unlawfully and that they have no powers to enforce their attempted ban. The notices have now vanished. There seems to have been less use by naturists this year... probably due to the poor weather. written by Howard, August 15, 2008
If you want to see what Botany Bay looks like, there are some photographs at: http://www.kentcoast.org.uk/nforelandpeg.html.

On a hot Saturday afternoon three weeks ago, Botany Bay was full of textiles, but was relatively less crowded towards the northern end, in front of the dunes. There were no naturists around. Arriving on my own, I found a spot about 40 feet away from other beachgoers, stripped off and enjoyed a couple of undisturbed hours relaxing and sunbathing. I even strolled down to the sea a couple of times for a cooling swim without causing any offence to the textiles all around, including families, groups of young people, older couples, etc. I think the textiles must be aware that the beach is popular with naturists, and so they don't mind if you decide to strip off while you're there. So don't be put off if you find that that the beach is exclusively textile when you get there. Just carry on and strip off as you normally would, and you'll be pleasantly surprised at how tolerant other beachgoers can be, provided you behave confidently and naturally. We need to remember that textiles have every right to use the same beaches that we enjoy. A beach can only be "lost" to naturism if we allow the presence of textiles to deter us from using the beach too.

I am pleased to see the above comments and hope to perhaps meet up with Chris and Howard one time. The weather has not been kind of course and I dont get a lot of time anyway. My last visit a couple of weeks ago found just one elderly gent sitting there and he was wearing trunks. I said hello and asked if he would be offended if I took my clothes off. He was OK with that so I moved along a bit and lay down to enjoy the brief bit of sun. He came nearer and took his trunks off saying he felt nervous being the only one naked. I must say I feel the same about being naked alone. Within a short while a couple walking along came and joined us and later another lady sat nearby. We all enjoyed the freedom and even a dog walker looked over smiled and nodded. Please can I ask if anyone knows about the reported tolerated beach near Reculver. I would like to try that as well but am not sure of location etc. Keep up the support of the lovely Botany Bay please.
