General

Reports suggest that the sand dunes at Formby Point (a short distance south of Ainsdale Dunes) were once suitable for naturist use, but there is a history of an anti-nudity attitude from the Local Council.

Sefton Council and other local land owners have decided to take actionagainst naturists, because they claim that there is a serious problemwith "illegal sexual activity" (primarily in the dunes) - hence the notorious ‘Operation Crow’ that took place in 2005.

A warning sign against nudity is displayed in the official Sefton Council car park at Lifeboat Road.

Merseyside Police work in co-operation with all the landowners in arresting any nude people on Sefton Beach and in the dunes (which also includes Ravenmeols and Formby Point).
