General Newborough Warren and the nearby beach at Malltraeth Bay are situated at the south-west corner of the island of Anglesey - 'Ynys Mon' in the Welsh langauge. Getting There OS Map Ref: SH 387 640 From the Menai Bridge on the A5, take the A4080 south to the village of Newborough (Niwbwrch). From there, a road - signposted "To the Beach / Traeth" - leads south to a car park on the coast - approx. 2 miles. This Forestry Commission road is subject to a toll ( £2.00 in 1999 - effectively includes parking charge). Walk from the car park on to the beach and turn right (heading North in the direction of Llandwyn Island) towards the rocky promontory at Llanddwyn Island. Beyond this lies Malltraeth Bay and an area used by naturists - "a beautiful but plain, exposed and windy beach with open water." The walk from the car park is two to three miles in total. Alternatively, turn left from the car park (heading south) and walk until the beach curves left a little at some high sand dunes. From here, the crowded part of the beach is more or less out of sight. There is room to sit amongst the edge of the dunes (but please don't go into them as they are an esential nature reserve and any walking could damage the sensitive fauna cover of the dunes). Description "At high season - textiles do walk along here sometimes - just be sensible and don't be obvious. If you see the warden coming along the beach in his 4x4 - cover up - he is known to get just a tad irate! This area does have a regular gay group - but as a woman I feel safer amongst them than amongst "straight" people! Waters here are sheltered, and quite warm as the tide goes out, with shallow pools that you can wallow in. Views are unbelievably fantastic - especially on a sunny evening." Facilities Water Quality "Lovely, huge (3-4 miles?) clean beach in a beautiful location - the bay north of the island was virtually empty. I saw - I think - two textile families, but no-one else - although this was a Friday. If you have a dog - they should stay south of the beach entrance, which is a textile area, but I can't see anyone objecting north of the island as there was no-one there!" My wife and I have just had a wonderful few days on Anglesey, we visited Newborough both north and south of the car park and found both virtually deserted. Sunday we spent south and there were a few people about but in the dunes we only saw two single males all afternoon, Monday we went north and saw the odd person passing by, of course this was out of season? and the weather was exceptional. Tuesday we visited Aberffraw and found the beach delightful and empty but a little close to civilisation so what it's like in peak time is anybodys guess.

Newborough or Malltreath Bay on Anglesey is our favourite naturist retreat. We come from Stoke and we have visited several times, taken loads of snaps in the dunes and happily walk naked all day. On hot days, yes, textiles walk up and down the beach with the dog etc. Just have a skirt and shorts handy, they are usually a mile away, so nudity is achievable most of the time. Sometimes you can spot someone sunbathing nude. Walk up to them undressed and say hello. They love to meet the same type of people.

Just got back from a lovely weekend on this beach.
Parked either at the forestry carpark or walked from the campsite a couple of hundred yards away. Beautiful walk through the forest, took us about 15-20mins to get down to the beach. 3 or 4 other naturist couples otherwise beach to our selves. Water quality not bad but a few layers of seaweed to walk down. We love this beach as its peaceful and very few prowling single men around. Can definietly recommend to couples and families aslong as its not too windy. No refreshments so make sure you take lots of water. Will be back again towards end of may if weather good. written by GD, May 14, 2008
I'm going to go along to this beach today - my first time at a naturist location. I'm in my mid 20s and I'll be on my own... I hope that doesn't qualify me as one of the 'prowling single men' just mentioned! It would be interesting to hear from other naturists so feel free to email me at

Hi, I'm a young man who would love to go to this beach as a naturist but I'm a bit anxious about going by myself, especially after what has been said. I just want to go to have a chilled out time sunbathing and feeling free. If there's anybody out there who would like to go with me, or any families or couples that I could tag along with, please email me at

My wife and I have spent many happy naturist hours on various beaches in Europe but - I am sorry to say - the weather in our great country is not always favourable for naturists. We did try to visit Newborough beach once but became completely lost in the network of narrow lanes. At the end we had to admit defeat and return home.
We have attended a number of naturist swims at various pools so if anyone has any info about naturist swims not too far from Manchester we would be delighted to hear from you. I think your comments are wholeheartedly inappropriate for this page. It is here to discuss trip reports, but not in the graphic sexual nature as your posting. If you would "like to hear more about this stuff" then you should join and take you comments to a suitable website. This is not it! I have visiting Newborough with my family for many years, my middle daughter has created th Sculpture in the middle of Malltreath beach for the past 4years and in that time, although incidently the beach is NOT a real naturist beach, we have never been offended or accosted or in any way affected by the naturists who are there. In fact to the contrary the naturists who are there are very descreet. I have three children, 2 girls and a boy non of whom have seen any behavour that has worried them in the 15 years we have been going there... at least once a week usually Wed or Sundays so what I want to say is that it is a beautiful place and so huge that there is space for us all to enjoy.
