Getting There

Microsoft Virtual Earth

Streetmap

Car parking is available on the coast at Hill Head, which can be reached from the A27 via the B334 and Stubbington.

From Hill Head walk  westwards along the beach (about 3/4 mile) until a section suitable for naturism is reached.

Description

"We make two or three visits here per year. There are never more than half a dozen others here, mainly single men, with a few couples."

"The beach is mainly shingle with the occasional patch of sand. The best swimming is at high tide as the beach then slopes reasonably, so you can fairly quickly get to a reasonable depth. At low tide, it is flat sand, and after 200 yards it gets to your knees! Like Calshot, on the other side of Southampton Water, it's a great place to watch the various boats going by - from small dinghies to huge cruise liners."

"The beach gets many walkers and a few horse riders but no-one seems to mind sensible sunbathing or swimming. There is a footpath above the beach, along the top of the cliffs. Though it is generally behind bushes, where there are gaps, the beach is overlooked and gawpers can be occasionally be a pain."

Meon Shore
written by Darryl Strong, May 29, 2007
I visited the Meon Shore beach last Friday. It was a sunny morning, a bit chilly in the wind but fine when sheltered. When I arrived there was a lady swimming in the sea and after I clambered down a steep path I was wondering if I had found the right beach as I had walked from a carpark across some fields. She saw me and then proceeded to get out of the water. I had found the right place. I was unsure whether to go for a swim naked but then thought, she has so I will. She was with her partner who was also naked. Whilst swimming a gentleman came along the beach with his dog and walked past us. I then walked back up the beach feeling rather liberated and proceeded to sunbathe for around an hour. The sun then went in and as it got rather chilly again I left. I will return. The beach is stoney but as previously mentioned here the water stays shallow and has a sandy bottom so it is rather nice to swim in. I will return as soon as I can to get my 'fix' of naturism as my wife is not too pleased at me walking around the garden naked. 9/10 only for the fact the sun went in!
Well I never! Barbers are naturists!
written by Willsibob, June 04, 2007
The question is if I see the same barber next time I need a haircut will I (yes of course I will) ask him if he's been sunbathing at Hill head again.

To explain what I mean about the above - I was in the barbers today and the barber said he'd been to Hill Head for the weekend - and he had a good tan - and you know how you sometimes just know something is not quite right - well I thought "I wonder if he's a naturist" well I checked www.inthebuff.co.uk and couldn't see him, then I searched and came across this article - 10 to 1 he is - I;ll ask him next time what he thinks - he certainly said it was a great quiet place to relax without all the normal beach bars n ice cream parlours!
Certainly he made it sound worth a visit.
No sign of naturists
written by Allan, August 01, 2007
I walked from Hill Head for about 40 minutes past the gardens of big houses and nearly to some beach chalets but there was no sign of any naturists. Plenty of sunbathers in bikinis but nothing less. Where has it gone?

A guide to find the spot

finding the right part of the beach
written by Andy, August 07, 2008
Steve, I'm not sure that there is a 'right spot', it is unofficial after all. However I've found that if you continue in a north-westerly direction from hill head, until you reach some derelict pill boxes, beyond that it is reasonably quiet; and there have been other naturists about. I've not explored the more southerly end though. I was there today and the weather was fantastic; but unfortunately, seemingly, a rare good day this year.
